Suicide Helplines and Websites for Teens

Sometimes the emotional pain can feel like its too much, especially when there seems to be no one around who either cares or understands or who will support you through this. Sometimes teens think seriously about suicide and GLBT teens are at greater risk due to intolerance in our families and communities and when bullying happens to us. I have posted some resources here that can help. Just in case you need them, here they are. Check out places in your community for support, like your parents, a trusted family member, school counselor, any person that you trust. Talk to a friend. Go see your school counselor. They can help. The Trevor Project has important information about suicide and teens and where to go for help. Call the Trevor Project to speak for free to a volunteer counselor.

Teen Mental Health and Suicide is a great website with solid information about mental health issues and teens. It is a Canadian website. They have information written for teens and have teens involved in developing their materials. teen mental health produced the following video about suicide.

GLBT National Youth Talkline
The GLBT National Youth Talkline provides telephone and email peer-counseling, as well as factual information and local resources for cities and towns across the United States.
All services are free and confidential. The telephone volunteers are in their teens and early twenties, and speak with teens and young adults up to age 25 about coming-out issues, relationship concerns, parent issues, school problems, HIV/AIDS anxiety and safer-sex information, and lots more!
